SEE YOU NEXT YEAR on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Cauble Park on Lake Acworth

The Rotary Club of North Cobb, the City of Acworth and the Mountain Lake Boy Scout District will  host the 1st Annual SMOKE on THE LAKE  Backyard BBQ FESTIVAL on May 8, 2010. It will be a backyard BBQ competition and festival for charity. The inaugural event would be held on Saturday, May 8 at Cauble Park on Lake Acworth from 10am-6pm.

The festival is a charity fund raiser by Rotary Club of North Cobb that is designed to raise money for local North Cobb area charities and Rotary International charities.

Shuttles stops will be set up in the downtown Acworth area to take visitors to Cauble Park.

SCHEDULE

May 7

  • 4- 6pm – BBQ   Team Check and Meat Inspection - at Cauble Park on Lake Acworth
  • 7-10pm –  Sponsor/VIP Dinner hosted by North Cobb Rotary at Cauble Park
  • Cook Team Meeting with Sam Huff following Sponsor/VIP Dinner

May 8

Smoke on the Lake Backyard BBQ Festival at  Cauble Park on Lake Acworth

  • 7-9am  – Vendor Setup
  • 9-10am – Judges Training
  • 930am – Shuttle Bus Service from downtown Acworth (locations TBA)
  • 10am – Festival Opens to the Public  
  • 10AM          Any Thing Goes Turn In
  • 11AM          Pork Turn In
  • 1130AM   Chicken Turn In
  • 12 Noon   Ribs Turn In
  • 11am-12:15pm Bry Harris & the Parrot Island Band
  • 1230-2pm – The Loose Shoes Band (Classic Rock and Blues) 
  •  230-4pm – Roger “Hurricane” Wilson and his Band (Blues)
  •  4:15pm  Drawing for North Cobb Rotary Cruise Raffle 
  •  4:30-6pm – BBQ Awards  
  • 6pm –  Festival Ends
  • 7pm – Last Parking Shuttle

The festival will kickoff on Friday, May 7 with team starting registration at 4pm and a Sponsor/VIP Dinner at 6pm (a limited number of tickets are available for purchase at $25).

On Saturday, May 8, the festival opens to the public at 10am and runs till 6pm. It will feature a large backyard (amateur) BBQ competition with cash prizes, trophies and bragging rights, a Boy Scout Dutch Oven Desert Competition, Live Music all day, BBQ Ally Food Court with plenty of great barbeque, pizza, fair food and Johnny’s Sweetwater Beer Garden.
